About Us

AlsoEnergy, Boulder, Colorado, was founded in 2007 with the mission of enabling the adoption of clean, renewable energy by providing an end to end software solution that monitors and manages renewable energy systems. The Company has installed monitoring for systems sized between 5KW and 1MW.

AlsoEnergy’s principals, Holden Caine and Robert Schaefer, collectively have authored twelve patents and have over fifty years of experience in high tech.  They have led successful high tech ventures developing products for major US-based corporations including IBM, DEC and Wal-Mart.  A strategic industry advisory board compliments this team.

 Robert J. Schaefer, P.E.
Robert SchaeferOver his 25-year career, Robert has established a broad base of experience in Engineering, Operations and Management. Most recently, he was President and CEO of Breece Hill, LLC, from 2005 to 2007, after being promoted from COO and Vice President of Engineering. Robert previously held executive technical positions in a variety of industries, with companies such as Hertrich Development, MaxOptix and the Digital Equipment Corporation.

Robert graduated from M.I.T. with degree in Electrical Engineering in 1983, received a Masters Degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder and is a Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado.

 Holden R. Caine
Holden CaineHolden has spent his career developing software and hardware solutions for the digital imaging market. Most recently, as Vice President of Software Development for Fujifilm, USA, producing image processing systems for commercial, retail and consumer markets. Prior to that, Holden worked at Applied Graphics Technologies as well as the Eastman Kodak research labs. He was instrumental in transitioning these companies from film to digital imaging.

Holden graduated in 1984 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Computer Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
