SCADA Engineer

AlsoEnergy is a leading provider of renewable energy monitoring systems.  The SCADA Engineer is responsible for providing high-quality design and implementation support for the AlsoEnergy control products for our rapidly growing customer base, delivering solutions to both technical and non-technical end users.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, document and implement data acquisition, SCADA and control systems for solar PV applications based on customer requirements
  • Serve as in house controls expert thought leader and advisor to the AlsoEnergy engineering team
  • Provide appropriate and timely technical advice on matters relating to SCADA and control
  • Stay up to date with the evolving utility grid technology and evolution of micro-grids
  • Help customers solve technical issues with our products and working with our Development group to resolve more advanced issues when necessary
  • Answering questions from customers about the features and capabilities of our SCADA products
  • Support plant commissioning activities with occasional travel to critical sites; as needed up to 25% of the time.
  • Participation training and providing documentation to customers as required

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and minimum 6 years of experience in field or in a related area
  • Demonstrated experience with closed loop control system design, implementation, and troubleshooting. Experience with various control architectures such as PID, table lookup, feed-forward. Experience with systematic tuning of complex control systems.
  • Experience implementing controls utilizing C#, IEC 61131 logic programming preferred
  • Knowledge of the electrical grid stability conditions and variables
  • Knowledge of substation equipment functions and communications
  • Knowledge of serial, Modbus, DNP3, TCP/IP, VPN and other networking concepts
  • Must have strong analytical skills to visualize and troubleshoot complex problems related to real-time systems including understanding architecture for systems that have high availability and resiliency, knowledge of IT network communication protocols and equipment.
  • Must be a team player, a good listener and have the ability to understand and solve customer problems.
  • Ability to work minimal supervision

Technical Sales Engineer

This position at AlsoEnergy serves as the primary technical contact to the customer. Our customers and our account managers will look to you to understand project requirements, write technical proposals and coordinate with engineering to ensure timely and accurate solution delivery. While this role will be primarily utility SCADA focused, you will also spend time supporting our commercial / industrial monitoring customers.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Elicit project requirements by interfacing with customer, understanding design documentation including SLD, 3LD, site plans, PPA and interconnect agreements
  • Write customer facing proposals and engineering requirements documents
  • Interface with engineering to ensure the solution meets customer requirements
  • Maintain awareness of changing customer deadlines and interface with project management to ensure expectations are exceeded
  • Identify gaps and interface with engineering, operations, development, and the customer to drive resolution

Knowledge and skill requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or other applicable engineering degree
  • Minimum 5 years of experience required, preferably in the solar or utility industry
  • Experience with SCADA, PLC based control systems required
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting technical system design packages
  • Experience writing technical proposals and delivering customer presentations required
  • Experience troubleshooting and designing fiber and Ethernet field networks preferred
  • Professional Engineering license preferred

Project Engineer

As a Project Engineer you thrive on schedules, milestones, and delivering solutions on time. You will bring order to a fast paced growth environment. As AlsoEnergy grows continuing to deliver more and larger scale utility SCADA solutions, a project engineer is needed to coordinate activities within the company. SCADA projects require understanding and managing project requirements, deliverables, and due dates. The Project Engineer will work with Technical Sales to document and refine product requirements, milestones and deliverables and translate this into actionable and achievable project plans. From these plans, the Project Engineer will coordinate internally with Engineering, Development, and Operations to fulfill projects on time and within the project budget. If you enjoy project management, developing project plans and requirements and working across the organization to execute on deliverables, this could be the ideal role for you.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Technical Sales to ensure complete and detailed engineering requirements
  • Build project plans and manage projects from purchase order to completion
  • Coordinate internal resources developing accountability and clarity in scope and timeline for each stakeholder
  • Communicate regularly with Technical Sales and the customer to manage expectations
  • Work with field service to efficiently organize field activities
  • Develop tools for and report periodically internally and externally on health of projects
  • Develop tools to understand and manage resource loading across the organization
  • Host periodic project meetings – internal and with customer
  • Develop project life-cycle process and checklists for engineering projects
  • Track project costs and process change orders with sales and the customer as needed
  • Identify gaps and interface with engineering, operations, development, and the customer to drive resolution
  • Help to define and refine internal processes

Requirements:

We are looking for a driven, self-motivated individual who relentlessly identifies and fills gaps with a strong technical background and attention to detail. The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or other applicable engineering degree
  • Minimum 4 years of experience required as a project manager, preferably in the solar or utility industry
  • Experience with project management tools such as Microsoft Project required

Field Service Engineer

AlsoEnergy is a leading provider of renewable energy monitoring systems (data acquisition systems – DAS).  The Field Service Engineer is responsible for providing high-quality customer focused technical support for the AlsoEnergy products, delivering solutions to both technical and non-technical end users. This person will also work on other engineering and documentation projects as required. AlsoEnergy is willing to train the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Travel related to commissioning and troubleshooting 75% to 100% of the time
  • Helping customers solve technical issues with our products while working with our Development group to resolve more advanced issues when necessary
  • Answering questions from customers and prospective customers about the features and capabilities of our products
  • Developing customer-facing documentation for our website on an as-needed basis
  • Communicating customer needs and wishes to the development and engineering staff
  • Document troubleshooting and problem resolution steps and practices
  • Participation in providing training and documentation to customers as required

Requirements:

We are looking for a driven, self-motivated individual who relentlessly identifies and fills gaps with a strong technical background and attention to detail. The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 0-2 years of experience in field or in a related area
  • Solar, Fire Alarm, SCADA or PLC experience valuable
  • Comfortable working with low-voltage electrical equipment and associated tools
  • The ability to be a good listener, understand a customer problem and find a complete solution
  • Excellent writing skills – most of your work will be written (email, documentation, etc.)
  • Excellent telephone mannerisms – some support will be provided over the phone
  • Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions

Database Administrator

Primary job duties are maintenance and support for our primary and backup MS-SQL database servers which house all of our customer and device data. Occasional after-hours maintenance and emergency availability is required.

Desired experience:

  • Experience with Setup and configuration of Microsoft SQL servers in a clustered configuration
  • Strong understanding of SQL
  • Min. 5 years experience as a primary administrator for a high volume SQL server environment
  • Experience with database failover, recovery, and scaling architectures

Accounting Specialist

AlsoEnergy is seeking a professional, high-integrity individual whose primary focus will be on Accounts Receivable functions, with possible expansion into other accounting duties.

Responsibilities:

  • Issue A/R invoices; validate completeness and accuracy of data
  • Confirm product delivery and service fulfillment prior to invoice
  • Interact substantially with Sales and Operations departments
  • Customer collections outreach, including resolution of client discrepancies
  • Issue regular A/R account statements
  • Process credit memos, returns
  • Apply received payments
  • Manage and communicate regarding customer credit limits and holds
  • Obtain customer credit references
  • Cross-train for A/P, Sales & Use Tax responsibilities
  • Basic front-desk reception duties (announcing and accommodating visitors)
  • Attend to special requests and ad-hoc projects as necessary

Requirements:

The well-qualified candidate will have 2-3 years of experience in an Accounts Receivable role with a history of billing and collections activities and a solid understanding of fundamental accounting principles. In addition, we are seeking the following qualities and skills:
