AlsoEnergy Excels in GreenTech Media Ranking of Monitoring Providers

AlsoEnergy is pleased to share results from the Global PV Monitoring 2016-2020 report published by GTM Research.

This report names AlsoEnergy as the #1 overall Independent Software Vendor (ISV) in the Americas. AlsoEnergy maintained the top-selling position for commercial and industrial PV in the Americas, while gains in the utility-scale market helped to push AlsoEnergy into the #1 spot overall in this region. These numbers reflect AlsoEnergy’s robust 42% growth rate in 2015.

Among ISVs, AlsoEnergy now ranks as the fifth largest solar PV monitoring provider globally across all market segments. This ranking has jumped up from a seventh-place result in 2014 and an eleventh-place result the year before. Total monitored assets at AlsoEnergy cover more than 5GW of power across more than 14,000 independent sites worldwide.

Insight into market performance is important for clients who are choosing monitoring providers for long-term contracts. “Our company selected AlsoEnergy as our preferred monitoring provider in 2012” says Matt Murphy, Director of Operations & Maintenance at Borrego Solar. “We stick with AlsoEnergy because they help us realize greater operational efficiency with lower costs and reduced administrative workload.”

This report about global PV monitoring markets, trends, and leading players is authored by Cedric Brehaut, Executive Consultant and founder of SoliChamba Consulting.  “AlsoEnergy continues to build market share in a rapidly growing solar PV monitoring market,” said Brehaut. “They have maintained regional market leadership in the commercial and industrial segments, while approximately doubling their monitored capacity in the utility segment in 2015.”

“We appreciate our customers’ commitment to AlsoEnergy and recognize that their loyalty has enabled us to become the #1 ISV in North America for PV monitoring,” said AlsoEnergy CEO Robert Schaefer. “In return, we are increasing our investment in product development, service and support to ensure that we continue to exceed customer expectations and maintain our #1 ranking.”

AlsoEnergy Accelerates Push Into Utility-Scale PV Market

Over the past 5 years utility-scale PV has been the fastest-growing solar power market in the US. AlsoEnergy, the leading solar monitoring provider for commercial and industrial markets in the US, has gradually added new products and features aimed at this market. This includes PowerApp, AlsoEnergy’s full featured stand-alone PV desktop application, along with their PV Power Plant Controller and PV Historian. Today America’s top selling Independent Software Vendor for solar monitoring offers the industry’s most comprehensive solutions to monitor and control utility-scale PV projects.

Utility-scale installations require expert planning and custom engineering to meet project specs and satisfy local utilities and regulators. AlsoEnergy has developed specialized products and features to meet these needs:

  • PowerApp: PowerApp is an alternative to browser-based software platforms. This application provides a secure, full featured analytic platform that runs on the desktop.
  • PV Power Plant Controller: The AlsoEnergy Power Plant Controller offers full functionality. This includes power ramping, power curtailment, voltage control, device on/off, and more.
  • PV Historian: This device allows users to store and host data locally, accommodating secure locations where an internet access is restricted or unavailable.

AlsoEnergy offers products that cover specific PV needs that commonly appear in utility-scale project specs:

  • CAISO Telemetry: AlsoEnergy is a CAISO approved RIG vendor. Expert project planning ensures that clients meet their site synchronization date based on CAISO bucket scheduling.
  • NERC CIP Compliance: AlsoEnergy can deliver for utility-scale clients with NERC CIP compliance requirements.

Additionally, AlsoEnergy offers software features specialized for utility-scale PV client needs:

  • Automated Capacity Testing: Capacity Tests provide updated benchmark performance levels that detect and account for system degradation, offering persistent commissioning for PV systems.
  • Customized Stakeholder and Agency Reports: Clients save time with automated reports customized to the needs and permissions of all recipients.

AlsoEnergy gains in the utility scale market have been documented in the Global PV Monitoring 2016-2020 report published by GTM Research. This report is authored by Cedric Brehaut, Executive Consultant and founder of SoliChamba Consulting.  “AlsoEnergy continues to build market share in a rapidly growing solar PV monitoring market,” said Brehaut. “They have maintained regional market leadership in the commercial and industrial segments, while approximately doubling their monitored capacity in the utility segment in 2015.”

AlsoEnergy completed work on many noteworthy utility scale projects over the past year, including sites as large as 84 MW with a variety of control needs.

“Our efforts in the utility scale market follow the same strategy that has made us the #1 overall monitoring vendor in the C&I solar market” said AlsoEnergy CEO Robert Schaefer.  “AlsoEnergy will continue to invest in new technology and product development so we can meet the evolving needs of our clients.”

Introducing Appointment-Based Support

AlsoEnergy has introduced a new support option that allows customers to schedule Support Appointments for installations, site commissioning, and other planned events. This policy will help ensure that AlsoEnergy can provide timely assistance when our clients have engaged contractors, workers in the field, etc.

Here’s how it works:

  • For on-site visits and other planned events, customers may call or email AlsoEnergy Support ahead of time to schedule an appointment.
  • At the scheduled time we will call you – no more need to call the support line.
  • We recommend that customers call at least one week in advance to schedule Support Appointment in order to secure the desired date and time for the appointment.
  • Of course AlsoEnergy customers will not need to schedule an appointment in order to receive support. But we do strongly encourage customers to take advantage of the new opportunity to schedule appointments for planned events.

AlsoEnergy Partners with Survey Digital for EMEA Regional Sales

AlsoEnergy is announcing a partnership with Survey Digital, a company specializing in sales, installation & commissioning, and maintenance for solar inverters. Survey Digital has been designated as a certified sales agent and service provider for AlsoEnergy in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).

For AlsoEnergy, the top selling independent monitoring provider for commercial PV in North America, this partnership is an opportunity to extend international coverage for sales and support. AlsoEnergy has expanded international offerings over the past several years and the Survey Digital partnership will enable further market penetration in the EMEA region, providing localized sales and services for the AlsoEnergy product line. Survey Digital will also assume frontline support service for the existing AlsoEnergy install base in the EMEA region.

Solar PV customers in this region should contact Survey Digital for sales of AlsoEnergy solutions. Survey Digital will also be offering an incentive package for customers in this region who are interested in migrating existing installations from other third party monitoring solutions to the AlsoEnergy PowerTrack™ platform. For existing AlsoEnergy clients in this area, the partnership will provide access to regional support and services with shorter lead times, lower travel expenses, and local market knowledge.

This partnership allows Survey Digital to expand its range of products and services for the solar market in the EMEA region. Survey Digital currently offers maintenance for central and string inverters throughout the region, along with O&M services for utility scale PV installations. In addition to sales activities, Survey Digital is an authorized regional service provider for many leading inverter manufacturers (this includes Satcon/GreatWall-China, Power-One-USA, Sungrow-China, Santerno-Italy, ABB-Greece, and Fronius-Austria).

“The partnership with Survey Digital is a critical piece of our strategy to expand international coverage for our monitoring and SCADA solutions” says AlsoEnergy CEO Robert Schaefer. “With localized knowledge, extensive inverter expertise, and a wide range of industry certifications, Survey Digital is a trusted partner to sell and support our product line.”

“Survey Digital is excited to be named as a certified sales agent and service provider for AlsoEnergy” says Kostas Daniilidis, Managing Partner of Survey Digital. “We are seeing increased activity in the Middle East and Northern Africa related to new installations.  We also see the growing importance of asset management and maintenance in the maturing European solar energy market, so we are pleased to expand our offering with AlsoEnergy’s monitoring software platform. We recognize AlsoEnergy as an international leader for monitoring and control technology.”

The partnership between AlsoEnergy and Survey Digital is effective immediately. More information can be found on company websites.

About Survey Digital

Survey Digital entered the solar PV market as an authorized regional dealer for Satcon. But in order to convince a customer to accept the purchase of an inverter system, a local support mechanism had to be in place. So Survey Digital formed a technical team to commission and support inverter sales. While other EPCs merely installed inverter systems, the Survey Digital team gained extensive experience and knowledge by commissioning and troubleshooting for a wide range of systems. This experience has given Survey Digital a significant advantage to provide technical inverter support and O&M services across the EMEA region.
